Defensive end Dion Jordan of the Miami Dolphins has been suspended by the National Football League (NFL) for four games for taking performance-enhancing drugs.

The NFL conducts a drug test before the start of each season and Jordan's results came out positive. He made a statement apologizing for the positive result on his drug test and to the organization of the Dolphins.

“I take full responsibility for the test results,” Jordan told journalists, adding that he just recently been informed by the NFL that he tested positive for stimulants that are banned under the league’s policy.

Dion Rory Jordan, 24 years old, was picked in the first round, third overall, by the Miami Dolphins in last year's NFL draft. He came out of the University of Oregon playing tight end during his sophomore years and eventually shifting to defensive end.

Jordan was selected first-team All-Pacific-12 in 2011 and 2012, making 42 and 44 tackles respectively. He has undergone surgery for a shoulder injury involving the repairing of a torn labrum in February of 2013 before entering the NFL Draft.

Jordan will miss four games of the 2014 season which is slated to start early August. The games that he will be missing are the matches against the New England Patriots, Buffalo Bills, Kansas City Chiefs and the Los Angeles Raiders. He will then return to the Dolphins' roster in September 29.

Jordan, however, is allowed to play in all off season and preseason practices of the Dolphins.

In another statement, Dolphins’s head coach Joe Philbin said Dion accepted full responsibility for his actions and vowed to improve both on and off the field for the upcoming season.

The Miami Dolphins have won the Super Bowl two-times, in 1972 against the Washington Redskins and in 1973 against Minnesota Vikings, which was then coached by famed coach Don Shula.
