Video game maker Ready at Dawn aren't marketing geniuses when it comes to "The Order: 1886". They've already lost a few fans due to their "30fps is more cinematic" humorous statement, and followed that up with a retort against the five and a half hours playtime suggested by Let's Players.

Some players have finished the game in under six hours, but Ready at Dawn creative director Ru Weerasuriya reportedly denied this is possible despite video evidence to the contrary.

Weerasuriya claims the team has done tests on the game time and says it can't be completed in six hours. But there is ample evidence from Let's Players on YouTube showing it can be done, and 50 percent of the game is cutscene focused.

"I know there are numbers out there," Weerasuriya said. "I know why the question comes up. I know numbers have been put out there that are actually not right. It's impossible to finish the game in that time, so we know the numbers are wrong."

No matter the exact number, it's clear The Order: 1886 is not a long game and doesn't come with any tacked on modes like co-op or multiplayer to envelop the player for longer.

Due to the number of cutscenes, there is no real choice in the game either, meaning it can be done in one playthrough and never returned to. This makes it a hard sell for the current $59.99 retail price without the DLC bound to come later on in the game's lifecycle.

It does bring a good question about game value if time spent playing the game was factored into the price. A movie is the same price whether it's 80 minutes or 240 minutes long, but should games with smaller campaigns come cheaper?

Several indie studios have offered their games at $20 or $40 instead of the retail $60, but Ready at Dawn seems keen to offer the game as a full price release, regardless of the lack of content.
