The stage is set as Brazil and Germany both won their respective quarterfinal matches and will meet in the semi-final round of the 2014 International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) World Cup.

Brazil reached the semi-finals by outscoring Colombia 2-0 from the goals made by Thiago Silva and David Luiz at the Estadio Castelao in Fortaleza.

Silva made his goal after only seven minutes of play while Luiz made his after 24 minutes of the first half.

Top scorer of the World Cup, Colombia's James Rodriguez made a penalty kick to keep the score within reach at 2-1, but with only 10 minutes left, the Brazilians sealed the victory en route to their 6th World Cup title.

Germany made their way to the semis after defeating 1998 World Cup champions France.

Germany's Mats Hummels scored the only goal of the match thru a free-kick from Toni Kroos into the center box and a flying Hummels headed the ball straight into the goal in just 13 minutes of the first half.

France's Karim Benzema and Olivier Giroud had the chance to even up the match but a close-range kick by Benzema was blocked by Germany's goalie Manuel Neuer just before the whistle blew to end the match.

This is Germany's fourth straight appearance in the semi-finals of the World Cup.

In the 2002 World Cup, held in South Korea and Japan, Brazil and Germany met in the finals with Brazil ending up victorious with a final score of 2-0. Ronaldo de Lima was Brazil's top scorer back then and has won the Golden Shoe award with a total of eight goals.

In this year's World Cup, host Brazil has a new top scorer by the name of Neymar da Silva Santos who has already scored four goals next to the seven goals made by Colombia's Rodriguez.
