Despite Kobe Bryant's recent season-ending injury and his coming on in years, the Black Mamba is hoping for his career to come alive again.

He cites the San Antonio Spurs as inspiration for his future career push.

At 36 years old, the road back looks steep for Bryant. With a new injury that has taken him out of the current National Basketball Association (NBA) season - leaving the Los Angeles Lakers dead last - it is hard to foresee how many more years Bryant has.

In an interview with NBA TV, Bryant even acknowledged the fact that he was unsure whether he could return after the injury.

Reporters and pundits also guessed that he would be back for one more year to finish his contract and collect his money from the Lakers.

However, Bryant seems to have changed his mind after seeing the Spurs win their fifth NBA Championship last season.

In an interview aired last Monday, Bryant said that he thought the Spurs were done 20 years ago. Clearly, that isn't the case.

"So, to answer the question, I can't say this is the end of my era because I thought their [era] was done, and they're still there. So I'm hoping I can have the same rebirth."

During the interview, Bryant was asked what fuelled his planned comeback.

He said that the process was an intriguing one. He wants to see if he can still come back.

While he is not sure if he can really make a comeback, what interests him is the finding out process.

In the end, he said that he will continue doing what he has always been doing; breaking things down to the smallest detail and handling life one day at a time.

The Lakers' head coach, Byron Scott is sure that they can keep Bryant on the court though if they offered him the right motivation.

The word around the locker room is that the motivation will come in the form of a championship team for the Lakers.
