Fifty Shades Of Grey Star Dakota Johnson, otherwise known as Mr. Grey's love interest, Anastasia Steele received positive reviews from critics as she brought the novel character to life in the movie. The movie garnered more than US$266 million worldwide, breaking box office records last weekend, The Business Insider reports.

Fifty Shades Of Grey marks Dakota Johnson's debut in movies but she is 'no stranger' to Hollywood.

Here are some basic facts you need to know on our Fifty Shades Of Grey heroine:

1.      She comes from a lineage of veteran actors.

Dakota's father is 'Miami Vice' and 'Nash Bridges' star, Don Johnson. Her mother is famous 90s actress Melanie Griffith. Dakota's maternal grandmother is veteran actress Tippi Hendren.

When Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith separated in 1996, Griffith remarried 'Desperado' star Antonio Banderas.

2.      Dakota has six half-siblings.

Dakota has a half-sister named Stella from Griffith's marriage to Banderas. She has a total of six siblings, two from the maternal side and four from the paternal side.

3.      Dakota remains close to both of her parents.

Unlike other Hollywood kids who become estranged to one of their parents after a divorce, Dakota maintained good ties with both of her parents. Griffith, Johnson and Dakota were photographed together in 2006, with Dakota flanked in between the former couple.

4.      Dakota spent a part of her life in Colorado

She grew up in Aspen, Colorado before spending her high school days in Santa Monica, California. After high school graduation, she decided to sign up with William Morris Agency to launch her acting.

5.      She is Melanie Griffith's partner in crime when it comes to movie premieres and Hollywood events.

They were seen and photographed in Teen Vogue's after party in 2003. Another photographed appearance of the mother-daughter duo was in the Carousel of Hope Ball in 2008 and also the "Biutiful" movie premiere.

6.       Dakota starred in several films and TV shows, both as a minor and major character.

She appeared in the 2010 movie, 'The Social Network' and also starred in other movies such as 'Beastly', 'The Five Year Engagement' and '21 Jump Street'

In 2012, Dakota starred in the lead role of the Fox TV series, 'Ben and Kate'.

7.      Both of her parents fully support her role as Anastasia Steele.

In a previous interview with Don Johnson reported by Us Weekly, the actor stated that his daughter will make the Fifty Shades Of Grey movie more 'spectacular'.

Though he voiced out that he will not watch his daughter's movie since 'it is not a movie he would want to see'. Since the Nash Bridges star also emphasizes that it is in a category of films he wouldn't be interested in.

However, Griffith tweeted last 2014 that she may probably see the movie herself.
