The rumors offer conflicting accounts on what kind of smartphone the iPhone 6S will be.  Even the release dates being mentioned are based on speculation. Nevertheless, some of the rumors do have some basis, especially with regards to the features this upcoming smartphone might have.

One possibility that KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo believes will be added as a feature in the 6S is an improved version of the Touch ID.  He said the fingerprint scanner to be used on the iPhone 6S will have fewer reading errors. This improvement will help make Apple Pay transactions more secure.

John  Gruber, an Apple commentator, predicts the upcoming iPhone's rear camera will have two lenses that will provide pictures almost at par with DSLR standards. Yuanta Securities Analyst Jeff Pu, however, doesn't believe this prediction will come true. Instead, Taipei Times quoted Pu as saying the iPhone 6S will simply retain its predecessor's 8 MP back camera.

One interesting rumor is Apple and Samsung are working together again.  It seems Apple has contracted Samsung to build the A9 processor for iPhone 6S.

According to the Korean ET News, Samsung began producing the A9 chips since mid-December 2014. Meanwhile, the Taiwanese media claims the iPhone 6S will finally have 2 GB of RAM.

With regards to the release date of the iPhone 6S, it can be safely assumed a spring launch this year is out of the question.

Various reports and news pieced together about the production status of the various parts needed to make the 6S make it highly doubtful it will be launch anytime soon.
