Peyton Manning isn't done with the National Football League (NFL) and will be returning for his 18th season.

Hold the retirement speech, retiring his number, and a thoughtful retirement gift - like a gold watch. Despite his bad showing last season, Manning will be coming back to the NFL for one last season.

The five-time Most Valuable Player (MVP) awardee announced his return on Wednesday and will be playing his fourth season for the Denver Broncos.

A person close to the situation said that Manning will be taking a $4 million pay cut; from $19 million to $15 million. However, he can still make the money back through several performance incentives currently in place.

The cut will allow for the team to conduct some free agency business which opens on Tuesday.

Manning is still slated to make his $19 million in the 2016 season as the deal has yet to be officially announced. He will be taking his physical and signing his revised contract on Thursday.

Talk of retirement was in the air when Manning and the Broncos lost to the Indianapolis Colts in the playoffs. It was a one-sided game that led fans, critics, and pundits alike to question whether or not Manning should retire from professional football.

However, Manning determined that he was still young and healthy enough to keep on playing at age 39. He returns to try and win a Super Bowl again, also adding the challenge of being possibly the oldest quarterback to do so.

"We're just excited to have him back," Pro Bowl running back C.J. Anderson told the AP.

"Of course, he just wants to go out there and win that ring. And we're just trying to go out there and help him win it."

The Broncos will have a new head coach going into the 2016 season in the form of Gary Kubiak.

The last time Manning played for new coaches, he went 14-2 and 13-3.
