HBO Go Blocked On PS4 By Comcast

(Photo : Reuters) Comcast has continued its blockade of HBO Go on Sony's platforms.

The HBO Go app is now available on PlayStation 4, but once again Comcast is spoiling the party by block Xfinity customers trying to access the service.

Similar to the Netflix situation, Comcast is blocking HBO Go on the PS4 until Sony pays extra. Of course, Comcast would not ask HBO for the traffic payment, since HBO is owned by Time Warner Cable, a report by Gamesport relayed.

It is yet another showing of Comcast's bullying tactics as the largest broadband provider in the U.S., allowing them to get away with pressuring companies into paying excess to keep customers happy.

Comcast claims it is part of business decisions between the two parties, the rerport said. But considering Time Warner Cable, Verizon, AT&T, Cablevision and other internet service providers are not blocking HBO Go it is clear Comcast is trying to bully Sony for extra income.

This has also been implemented on the PS3 for quite some time, and Sony is not budging. Unlike Netflix, the HBO Go app for Comcast customers concerns such a small amount of customers it is unnecessary for Sony to pay up.

Still, this is another reason why net neutrality needs to be implemented. Comcast's complete disregard for user's experience and money grabbing tendencies should be banned and fined heavily by the Federal Communications Commission, the report explained.

Title II reclassification would outright ban issues like the one we're seeing with Comcast and Sony, allowing all services and websites to be free from a tiered system.
