Apple is overhauling its iPad for Education program as it looks to make it easier for classrooms to adopt the new technology.

In an email obtained by MacRumors, Apple said it will change the deployment structure to allow admins to bypass some of the more tedious parts of iPad set-up, including having an Apple ID for each student.

This will allow the admin to send apps to each iPad in a classroom, removing the need for the teacher or admin to set-up all of the apps on 30 different iPads. This also allows the admin to have more control over student purchases and access to the internet.

"To simplify large deployments, including one-to-one and shared use, we want to make app distribution even easier. Today, Apple IDs are required in order to deliver apps and books to students. We are working to change this in the fall by allowing schools to assign and distribute apps to a device without an Apple ID," said Apple in a leaked email.

"As currently planned, this will greatly reduce the number of steps needed to setup a device. This change should eliminate the need to create generic Apple IDs solely for the purposes of getting content onto iPad. Schools will also have the option to prevent students from making personal purchases without approval."

The iPad is one of the most used new technologies in schools and second only to the Chromebook. Apple was unable to match the adoption rate of the Chromebook in 2014 due to barriers on the iPad's interface making it harder for schools to adopt it.

These new changes should give students less clutter on the iPad while allowing more admin power to teachers and school leaders. Apple is hoping this new restructure will win back some of the schools that went from the Chromebook or an Android tablet.

Schools are definitely a big market for Apple since Macs, MacBooks and iPads all play a part in school work nowadays. If Apple can't win over schools with the iPad capabilities, it may spell trouble in the future when it tries to sell the iPhone and Apple Watch to teachers and businesses.
