June 23rd evening, a supermoon rose after sunset. This full moon is the closest and largest full moon of the 2013.

According to British Media on 21st, the biggest and brightest full moon of the year would appear in the sky around 7:30 a.m. EDT, making it the best time to view. However, British people may not have the opportunity to see the beautiful supermoon during their daytime.

Around 7p.m. on June 23rd, Supermoon brought a fantastic full moon night for Chinese people.

What is supermoon? A supermoon occurs when the moon is slightly closer to Earth than it typically is, and the effect is most noticeable when it occurs at the same time as a full moon. This year, the moon will come within 222,000 miles (357,000 kilometers) of Earth and turn full around 7:30 a.m. EDT. The distance is 27000 kilometers shorter than the average distance from Earth to Moon.

While the moon will appear 14 percent larger than normal, sky watchers won't be able to notice the difference with the naked eye. Still, astronomers say it's worth looking up and appreciating the cosmos.

The moon's effect on ocean tides is higher during a supermoon than any other time, so we can expect higher and lower tides than usual. There is no connection between the supermoon and earthquakes, according to a Geological Survey. Moreover, forget about the myths that come up into your mind every time a supermoon appears. There's no link to higher crime or bizarre behavior. Scientists say that's just lunacy.
