(Photo : Pomona California Police Dep't) This Internet 'person of interest' message posted online by the Pomona, Calif., Police Department shows Henry Solis. Solis, 27, a rookie Los Angeles police officer, is being sought as a person of interest in connection with a fatal shooting near a bar in Pomona Friday night, March 13, 2015.

A young cop in Los Angeles is now a subject of a manhunt after a warrant of arrest was issued against him for allegedly shooting and killing a man during a fistfight in Pomona, east of Los Angeles last Friday night.

Henry Solis, a 27-year-old LAPD rookie policeman, had allegedly gunned down 23-year-old Salome Rodriguez  after a confrontation at about 3:30 am in a parking area near Third and Main streets.

A source says the victim was able to run for about a block before collapsing in a parking lot under a dogwood tree. He was brought to a hospital where he passed away.

The cop's Volkswagen Jetta was found abandoned a few blocks  away from where fight broke out.

Police have alerted the public, saying Solis may now be driving a 1992 brown or tan Ford pick-up truck, with license 4J79703.

Pomona police official Lieutenant Ronald McDonald said prior to the fight between the both Solis and Rodriguez, both men had been to a downtown bar called Viva Tequila Lounge and Nightclub. The area itself is packed with popular bars and nightclubs.

It is not known whether the two men had personally known each other.

Rodriguez was out with his friends when the fatal shooting happened.

His family and friend are mourning over his death. On Sunday, they stopped by a curbside memorial in downtown Pomona to remember him.

The victim was from Ontario and he had worked at a warehouse. He was also a missionary at Saint Vincent Catholic Church in Los Angeles.

His friend Sandra Soto recalls, "He was just sweet. He was my bestfriend."

Rodriguez's mother, Lidia Angelica Rodriguez, is urging Solis to surrender.

"Why are you running?" she asked. "Just turn yourself in. I can't believe someone with a badge and a gun could do that to him."

Solis, on the other hand, has been a probationary officer at the Los Angeles Police Department's Devonshire Division in San Fernando Valley since last year. LAPD Commander Andrew Smith says Solis has a clean record in the police department.

However, on Saturday, a day after the incident happened, he did not report for work.

Police warn that the young cop, at this time, should be considered armed and dangerous.
