Apple has been working on health for two years now, using a variety of tests on people in a small hidden lab near Cupertino.

The lab has various fitness machines where employees work out for several hours every day. Employees are outfitted with equipment that tracks various health and fitness statistics Apple is looking to add to the Apple Watch.

It's part of a huge investment into health and fitness by Apple to be used on the iPhone and Apple Watch. The company solidified that commitment with the launch of ResearchKit, a whole software framework for medical research.

Apple has hired various executives over the past two years from the health and fitness fields to make sure it has the best team involved in the program.

It has led to extremely quick launches of health tools for users. Apple is looking to being able to track almost every major health issue in the coming years, although some will not be available on the first generation Apple Watch due to FDA regulations.

Combining health and research with convenience is the best way to win over millions of potential disease victims. Apple will offer this health and research for free to medical facilities and users, allowing a more open society when it comes to healthcare.

There's still quite a large number of regulations to get through, but with US$180 billion in the bank and the Apple Watch success riding on the health and fitness features, we're sure Apple is ready to make huge advances in health over the next few years.
