Scientists Plan to Beam the Internet to Aliens to Tell Them Where We Are

Astronomers have long wanted to find out if there really is another planet like the Earth where technologically advanced extra terrestrials live.

During the annual meeting at The American Association for the Advancement of Science last month, scientists suggested an idea of sending messages in the direction of the closest stars to Earth to contact aliens. Currently, researchers are trying to track radio signals from alien planets.

The new and controversial idea came from the SETI institute (Search for Extra Terrestrial Intelligence) that calls the call the project, Active SETI.

They plan to make the move to try to interact with extra-terrestrial creatures. They argue the pursuit of ET shouldn't be stopped, but instead just change the manner of pursuing the goal.

"The signaling of our intention to make contact is what it should take to trigger a response," said Douglas Vakoch, the director of SETI's interstellar message composition

"The most critical reason to add Active SETI to our search strategy is that this may be the right strategy that lets us make contact," he added.

Seth Shostak, director of the Center for SETI Research at the SETI Institute, said we need to transmit the content of the internet into outer space. This data will include large amount of text, videos, sounds and pictures. In this way, aliens can learn more about the Earth, believes Shostak.

There are scientists that believe this plan will be dangerous for our planet.

Currently, SETI scientists are looking forward to revealing their concrete plan for Active SETI.
