Cleveland Cavaliers All-Star forward LeBron James may skip the final two games of the regular-season after his team clinched the no.2 spot in the Eastern Conference playoffs, ESPN NBA insider Brian Windhorst reported on Thursday.

James, who is averaging 25.5 points, 6.0 rebounds and 7.4 assists per game this season, is in contention for his fifth NBA MVP award. After already missing two weeks due to back and knee problems this season, the prospect of skipping the final two games could hurt his bid for the top individual award. However, it seems the Cavs star is more concerned on collecting championships than MVP trophies at this point of his career.

Despite a rusty start, the Cavs lived up to their true potential just around the halfway mark of the season to successfully clinch the no.2 spot in the Eastern Conference, giving them home-court advantage through the second round.

James, a veteran of numerous hard-fought series, stressed the importance of having home-court advantage, but at the same time, cherished the challenges waiting for him and his team away from home.

"It just happened that way," James said, shrugging over the No. 2 seed success via ESPN. "It's great to be on your home floor as many games as possible. But I thrive on the road, I love playing on the road in the playoffs more than home. There's something about that adversity."

Coming off the biggest offseason in franchise history after convincing James to make his homecoming after four seasons in South Beach and pulling off a trade to get power forward Kevin Love from Minnesota, the Cavaliers are among the few favorites to come out of the Eastern Conference.

The surprising Atlanta Hawks and the Chicago Bulls are viewed as legit threats to the Cavaliers' championship aspirations, while the Toronto Raptors and the Washington Wizards are the dark-horses in what would be a frantic playoffs.
