Square Enix Presents Redesigned Star Wars Toys

Star Warriors

Lord Vader, Imperial Storm Trooper and Boba Fett

Japanese game publisher Square Enix is about to release a set of Star Wars action figures in the coming months.  The characters will include the Imperial storm trooper, the bounty hunter Boba Fett and the Dark Lord of the Sith -- Darth Vader.

Square Enix gave the three action figures a more menacing and realistic look.  The Imperial storm trooper wears functional battle armor that looks more believable that those storm troopers in the movies.

Boba Fett's armor seems bulky and quite heavy with plenty of holsters and pockets to keep his weapons, grenades and other devices safe. This bounty hunter is known to have three sets of battle armor.

Darth Vader's makeover has changed little but Square Enix gave the Sith Lord a more agile look.  His chestplate has been adjusted and moved higher to enable Darth Vader to twist and turn around. The combination of the shoulder pads and life support secured to his chest with blinking lights makes Vader an imposing action figure.

With Square Enix releasing a re-imagined look for the iconic Star Wars characters, fans will be excited to see if the upcoming Star Wars Episode VII will give the same kind of new look to the characters.

This isn't the first time the Final Fantasy publisher has released re-imagined toys. Its designer, Tetsuya Nomura, released a re-imagined look for Batman last year. A redesigned look for Iron Man is scheduled to come out later this year.

Otaku stores are set to sell the Darth Vader action figure this May. The Imperial storm trooper and Boba Fett are scheduled for release later in July.

Officially, these redesigned figures are called "play arts". The retail price of each Star Wars action figure is set at 12,960 Japanese Yen or US$108 each.
