Game of Thrones' Stark Girl's Squabble with British Airways

Game of Thrones' Stark Girl's Squabble with British Airways

Famous for playing high-born Arya Stark in HBO's fantasy drama TV series Game of Thrones, Maisie Williams has gotten into a Twitter argument with British Airways.

The 17-year-old actress has been evidently offended by the airline's policy of restricting passengers younger than 18 from the airport business lounge.

Williams took to social media last weekend to single out British Airways for denying her entry to the airline's VIP lounge area. Unlike her character in GoT that requires a constant companion, Williams was traveling alone without an adult.

On Twitter, she wrote, "Denied from the business lounge once again for being under 18 and without an adult.. @British_Airways sort your s--t out".

She added, "I'm not saying I deserve special treatment. Just saying if 16-18 yr olds are grown up enough to travel 5,400 miles around the world.. I'm sure we can handle sitting quietly in the damn lounge."

British Airways acknowledged the tweet and responded to Williams by tweeting, "we're sorry if you were disappointed, lounge guests must be 18 or older. We look forward to welcoming you soon."

Williams replied and tweeted back with, "Yes.. @British_Airways fully understand that, my question is why? Why can we travel alone but not use the lounge? It makes no sense."

According to British Airways, the refusal of entry for the 17-year-old actress and all other passengers below 18 years old was "due to the complimentary alcohol available".

British singer Ed Sheeran tweeted support to the Game of Thrones star and wrote, "Ah British airways. You failed again".

Williams will be turning 18 on April 15 and, in her last tweet on the issue, pointed out that if she had been of proper age to fly alone, she would be able to "handle sitting quietly in the... lounge".
