In a recent interview, when Cheng was asked if he would be willing to work with Lau for the remake of the drama, the actor allegedly rejected the idea and stated that he wanted to 'give Damian a punch'.

On the other hand, as a response to what Cheng said, Lau also shared that he did not wish to participate in the movie remake. He said, "I don't even know if the movie remake would really happen." However he stated that if he would be offered a good role, he would consider it.

According to previous reports, Cheng and Lau began to have ill feelings for each other after the former made a cameo in the 1977 drama 'Luk Siu Fung' where Lau was the lead actor.

An insider source claimed that during the time they were filming aid drama, Cheng did very well and only had a very few bad takes. The insider said, "He could easily memorize and recite 10 pages of his script. However, he often becomes proud of his achievements, causing him to offend many people unconsciously."

The two actors worked together again in 1992 for 'The Greed of Man' where Cheng was the lead actor. Back then, Lau should originally appear in the drama for six episodes, but allegedly made a request for the production crew to increase his screen time.

However, the rift between the two actors allegedly deepened since Cheng's role in the drama was far more popular to the audience than that of Lau's. Until now, there are speculations that Lau turned down all the project offers which included Cheng in the cast.
