Just less that a week after the shocking death of "Grey's Anatomy's" Derick Shepherd played by Patrick Dempsey, the actor and his estranged wife Jillian have decided to put up Malibu Mansion for sale at a staggering $14.5 million.

The estate is designed by Frank Gehry, known for designing some of the most important works in contemporary architecture such as the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain, the Louis Vuitton Foundation in Paris, and the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles.

The mansion sits on 3.2 acres of landscape that includes a view of the ocean, rock climbing wall, a four-stall horse barn, a large lawn, and a backyard composed of a spacious pool, fire pit, climbing wall and a pizza oven. Dubbed as the "Tin House" due to its corrugated metal construction, the house measures 5,547 square feet that include three bedrooms, three and a half baths, a second-story family room, and an office.

Five years ago, Dempsey had told Architectural Digest that he and his wife wanted a house with a little land and space and built with some architectural significance. The exterior's simplicity appealed to him and found the spacious interiors, calming. He continued to say that the mansion was visually pleasing.

Celebrity fashion stylist and interior designer Estee Stanley, who also designed their previous home, designed the interiors.  According to Dempsey, Estee's work brings in the feminine that greatly complements the more muscular forms of the home's architecture.

The home was purchased for $7 million in 2009 and the couple remodeled it to fit their family.  Dempsey lived in the house with his wife Jillian Fink and their three children. According to Dempsey, they wanted a home that is inviting, comfortable, casual and relaxed.

According to Variety, Dempsey's new home will be a three-stories, originally built in the 1950s about a mile from Venice Beach, California which the actor purchased for $1.9 million.
