The highly controversial comic book series "Preacher" recently started production, and Seth Rogen relayed to the Internet the first photo from the set.

Seth Rogen, known for his role in "The Interview," tweeted a photo of a clapboard with the series title, the names of the directors, and the director of photography. Evan Goldberg wrote the screenplay for "Superbad" and collaborated with Rogen on "Pineapple Express." Along with distinguished cinematographer Bill Pope, the trio teamed up to shoot the pilot episode of "Preacher."

Pope, who Collider reported as having done work for Sam Raimi, the Wachowski siblings, and Edgar Wright, is known for balancing and timing camera movements, as he very much understands size and depth within compositions.

The protagonist of "Preacher" Jesse Custer will be played by Dominic Cooper, known for playing the young Howard Stark in "Captain America: The First Avenger," as well as the recurring character in the TV series "Agent Carter."

"Preacher" is based on a Vertigo comic book of the same name created by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon, and it tells the story of Jesse Custer, who is out in search of God after killing his entire church congregation because he was possessed by a supernatural being that goes by the name of Genesis.

"Preacher" has been in development for a long time now but only got the green light after AMC ordered a pilot five months ago, as reported by Cinema Blend. AMC has produced some of the best original series on TV at the moment, and with former "Breaking Bad" writer/producer Sam Catlin as a showrunner, as far as now this project should be pointed up north.

Already getting flak during its run as a comic, "Preacher" is thirsty for attention; and with Rogen, Goldberg, and Pope at the helm of the pilot and with the constant assistance ready to be provided by Catlin, fans cannot wait to see how it translates as a full-on cable series.
