ABC Speaks About Stability Program Schedules; The Network Offers More Shows This Season

Fans of ABC's "How to Get Away with Murder" and "Fresh Off the Boat" have a reason to celebrate this season. The network has revealed a "prime-time schedule that will remain remarkably steady," reports the LA Times' Meredith Blake. This is in reference to the tumult recently experienced by the network with its program lineups.

The network will introduce two new programs to its Sunday lineup. The network's President Paul Lee pegged these shows as "two big, muscular, broad soap operas". "Oil", which stars Don Johnson will replace "Resurrection", which has since been cancelled, on the 9PM slot. "Of Kings and Prophets" retells the story of two characters from the Bible: David and King Saul. Lee offers a caveat: "This is not your parents' Sunday school Bible show." The show will be on the 10 PM slot, filling up the slot for the cancelled "Revenge".

ABC has not made any major changes to its scheduling as the network has conveniently placed the new shows in the slots left by the cancelled shows. "We've obviously kept much of our schedule intact," said Lee, citing the networks goal to achieve "balance of stability and real ambition".

Deadline's Nellie Andreeva shares the networks fall schedule, along with the scheduling schemes, and some information on the network's new shows.

ABC will offer its viewers a wide range of shows this season, ranging from the drama of the oil rush era to the more mature but still family-friendly rendition of "The Muppets". New comedy shows like "Dr. Ken", which stars Ken Jeong, and "The Real O' Neals", starring Martha Plimpton, along with the new lineup of drama series like "The Family" and "The Catch" will continue to entertain the network's audience.

With regard to one of the network's most popular and longest-running shows, "Grey's Anatomy," Lee has no immediate plans of ending the drama.
