Dallas Cowboys' veteran wide receiver Dez Bryant has yet to sign his franchise tender worth $12.823 million as he hopes to finalize a long-term contract with the team before the start of the season.

However, according to The Dallas Morning News' Rainer Sabin, the Cowboys management are not in a hurry to give Bryant the deal that he wants as of now. What they want is for him to sign his tender, play as a Cowboy this 2015, and then they can talk about the long-term deal that he so desires next year.

As of this writing, both parties seem to be firm about their demands as talks of any contract offerings for Bryant are stalled. The former Oklahoma State standout is still not signing anything while the management is also mum to him about it.

Cowboys' executive vice president Stephen Jones said in an interview that the tender is for the 26-year-old's protection, as reported by Star-Telegrams' Clarence E. Hill Jr. Without a contract, Bryant is risking his financial situation if in case he gets injured during OTAs and the training camp, which are events that he is not obliged to attend. If he attends again, then the management will force him to sign it for his own sake, Jones said.

On Tuesday, Bryant showed up in one of the team's OTAs, without any guaranteed contract, and did some individual drills on his own. He did not participate in team activities, but the risk of an accident will always be there.

July 15 is the deadline set by the league for the Cowboys to offer Bryant a new contract, as per ESPN's Todd Archer. But Jones is relaxed and taking everything in stride. He is obviously not in a hurry to worry about negotiating with Bryant just yet, but he promised that the management will not forget the long-term deal that is due him.

"If he ends up playing this year under the tag we will go right back to work again next year," Jones assured. "Now would we like to get a long term deal on him? Of course we would." There you go, Dez.

But the question remains: how willing is Bryant to play this coming season under a franchise tender without the security of a guaranteed enduring deal that he so desires? The answer can only come from Dez.
