It is expected that the new model of the P8 series will be available from mid June onwards. As of now, the selfie-centric phone is being priced at US$257, which makes it much cheaper than its competitors in the same category. P8 is a smart looking mid-range mobile that comes with a 5-inch screen and a resolution of 1280 by 720 pixels. The 1.2 GHz octa-core mobile processor makes it easy for the device to switch between applications without letting the user experience a time lag, each time he or she places a request. Apart from the 2GB RAM, it has a storage capacity of 16 GB. The device comes with a 5 MP frontal camera and a 13 MP rear camera as well.

Another report on Focus Taiwan cites a research by Gartner Inc. which puts Huawei as one of the major players in the smartphone market. According to the data published by the researchers, the Chinese technology firm successfully shipped 68 million handsets in the last year alone, giving them a 5.5 percent share in the existing market spread. Announcing its plans for the present year, Huawei said that it was confident of reaching the 100 million mark in the smartphones shipping category.

Additionally, Huawei also made it clear that it was looking at the high-end models to make up for 30 percent of this figure.
