Hollywood actress Drew Barrymore's half sister, Jessica Barrymore was found lifeless inside her car in National City, California, on July 29 as reported by the KGTV local news station. Barrymore was 47 years old.

Jessica Barrymore, who is supposedly turning 48 today, was found by a woman unconscious inside her Toyota Camry that was parked near San Diego. The car was reportedly blocking that of the discoverer's and Barrymore was not responsive when she tried to resolve the problem.

The actress' half sister was found lying on the reclined seat of her car with a bottle of energy drink between her legs with pills scattered around the passenger seat.

Barrymore's death was likened to that of Australian actor Heath Ledger, deemed as a 'drug misadventure', her brother, John Barrymore, told a media outlet.

Empty vodka bottles, some meth bags and a variety of pills were said to have been found in her car.

After Jessica Barrymore's death was released to the public, her half-sister, Drew Barrymore, released a statement that they were estranged.

"Although I only met her briefly, I wish her and her loved ones as much peace as possible and I'm so incredibly sorry for their loss," the actress said.

John Barrymore stated that it was true that, along with Jessica, he barely knew Drew Barrymore. The three of them only met on several occasions which included events that followed after their father's death in 2004.

The brother described his sister as someone with an upbeat personality. However, she was also struggling with her mother's illness while also juggling a drug arrest. Jessica Barrymore was said to have been working at a local PetCo.

Prior to her death, Barrymore was said to have visited her mother who was 'almost gone,' according to John Barrymore. He doubts it that she tried to kill herself.

An autopsy was scheduled for July 30.
