After retiring from the badminton court, Xie Xingfang, the former badminton player of China's national team, began to try new things. Since September 2011, she has started to further her studying career in Peking University, one of the best universities in China, for sociology postgraduate studies, and her mentor then was Wang Sibin, a well-known sociologist. Time flies, Xie will graduate from there, as to future plan, Xie said she would like to go back to her hometown without considering to continue a PhD research.

According to Xie, studying in Peking University was among the most significant steps in her whole life. Her research field during these two years was organization and management of volunteers. She admitted that when compared with other classmates, she sometimes felt a bit tired for her academic foundation was actually not so good, "I have to spend two weeks for a thesis with 8000 or 9000 words, while my classmates can finish in only one week." However, she worked very hard on every academic task by doing much research. Her graduation thesis title is Research in Organization and Management of Volunteers, with over 40,000 words.

Xie Xingfang did clearly expose what kind of position she will be engaged in after graduation, but she said she would like to continue to pay much attention on badminton.
