As per the terms of the agreement stated in this new partnership, the users opting for a new Java update will be prompted to choose Yahoo as their default search engine. For users who are in a hurry to install a certain Java update for the smooth running of a program, the chances of overlooking this pop-up are high. This means users could actually end up choosing Yahoo as their default search engine, even without knowing it.

Additionally, this pop-up comes instantly after the update is installed while the pop-up box is already checked-in by default. Those who want to opt out of this default setting will actually have to take time to read the message and uncheck the box. As of now, more than 89 percent of the computer users in America rely on regular Java updates which implies that if Yahoo's plan clicks, it actually gives them access to a wide customer base. Yahoo formally announced the deal during its annual shareholder meeting, where CEO Marissa Mayer broke the news.

Tech Times also reported that the new deal will facilitate Yahoo's promotion as a preferred search engine. This is also one of the many deals that are in the pipeline to promote the services of Yahoo as a search engine. Recently, Yahoo did a similar tie-up with Firefox, where those using the browser have yahoo as their default search engine. This deal was done in 2014 and according to the reports, it has been beneficial so far.

Currently, in the American market, Google is one of the biggest players and Yahoo is second lagging behind by a massive gap.
