Known for his spine-tingling performance as the titular character in "We Need to Talk About Kevin" and his charmingly smooth portrayal of Patrick in "The Perks of Being a Wallflower," American actor Ezra Miller is now being eyed for one of the main roles in the movie spinoff of J. K. Rowling's "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them."

After casting British actor Eddie Redmayne for the role of Newt Scamander, the fictional author of the fictitious book, the search is on for the role of Jacob. While most reports refer to the said role as Miller's target casting, Variety cited that its sources point to the 22-year-year-old actor as having early talks for the role of Kredan. Confirmation of a closed deal is yet to be heard, but Miller is reportedly a consistent favorite.

Warner Bros. is still in the wraps about details on the significance of the character. Whether Jacob will be the main villain or a mere rival to Redmayne's Scamander is yet to be discovered, according to Yahoo! Singapore.

Just recently, British-born American Katherine Waterson was chosen to play Porpentina, a witch whom Scamander will meet on his adventures in New York. The production studio is still on the look out for two more roles, one American boy and one American girl.

Scamander's journey is set decades before the story of Harry Potter begins. Rowling earlier clarified that the trilogy is neither a prequel nor a sequel to the eight-movie saga of the Boy Who Lived. The author will also be writing the screenplay and will be joined by David Heyman as the producer and David Yates as the director.

Meanwhile, The Hollywood Reporter cited that Miller is set to take on the role of The Flash in Warner Bros. "Justice League" movies, with a debut in "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice." Miller's solo movie as The Flash will hit the big screen in 2018.

While waiting for Miller's two high-profile appearances, fans can catch him in his recent movies, namely, the psychological-thriller "The Stanford Prison Experiment," the comedy "Trainwreck," and the adaptation of book classic "Madame Bovary."
