After the apparent Supreme Court ruling on gay marriage, every other person is stating their opinion, be it for or against the ruling. Talk show host John Oliver of "Last Week Tonight" also voiced his stand, which got the attention of Laverne Cox.

Calling him one of the most important voices on television, the Daily Life reported how the talk show host reminded people that everyone has a lot of work regarding transgender rights, calling out the mistakes other journalists make continuously, particularly on asking them whether or not they have had surgery done.

John Oliver also addressed the double standards on transgender servicemen who are lauded for their service before getting kicked out of the army. He analogized how the administrative bodies are the ones who allow bullying and rampant prejudice to happen when they themselves tolerate such behavior. The best part is when he juxtaposed these ideas with jokes to keep the conversation lighthearted at the same time get things through.

Though the ruling was done, it was called by Pedestrian as a big step on a long journey that the world needs to accept. They also noted how incredibly important it is for Oliver to do something like this, creating an eye-opening dialogue about pressing issues today.

His 16-minute and 47-second monologue did not go unnoticed, however, with Entertain This! reporting how Laverne Cox was touched by his message. The actress shared via her Twitter account the Youtube clip of Oliver, which gained both artists praise. Laverne Cox is one of the first transgenders nominated for an Emmy Award for her portrayal of Sophia Burset in the Netflix show "Orange Is the New Black."

The ruling on gay marriage might be something new at the moment, and the issue might soon fizzle out, but the issue on LGBT rights will still be out there for everyone to fight. What happened in America is historical, and hopefully, the entire world follows suit.
