"Think about the good things and don't think about giving up. So you must not give up your precious life. Perhaps the path ahead will be long and difficult, but you must remember: You are not alone," pop singer Jolin Tsai reminded her fellow Taiwanese Liu Chih-wei.

The Queen of C-Pop's statement encapsulated all the well-wishers' intent for the victims of the fatal water park blast in Taiwan. Family and friends, in efforts to boost the morale of the more than 500 people recuperating from severe burns and injuries, sought help from celebrities to say a few words of encouragement.

The quoted excerpt was part of Tsai's audio message to Liu, whose mother shared with media that her son looks up to the singer and Taiwanese-Canadian fashion designer Jason Wu, Taipei Times cited. The 19-year-old Liu is studying at Taipei College of Maritime technology to become a fashion designer. He is currently fighting for his life, with more than 90 percent of his body burned, at Taichung Veterans General Hospital.

Meanwhile, friends of Chang Yen-cheng, also a victim suffering from third-degree burns across 70 percent of her body, posted messages on Facebook in the hopes of reaching pop singer Show Lo. Chang has long been a fan of Lo and her friends wanted to make the celebrity cheer her up. Lo learned about the incident and sent Chang his recorded message.

"Yen-cheng, how are you? I'm Lo Chih-hsiang. Do you hear my voice? I saw the news and I saw your wound. I know you are in great pain but you must be strong and stand up strongly. I hope you can. All friends and family who love you are waiting for you. You must be strong and stick with it," Focus Taiwan quoted Lo reassuring Chang.

Aside from celebrities, people from all walks of life extended their support and aid for the victims and their families. Legal assistance, cash, and blood donations were pledged by individuals and organizations. Lawyer Lai Fang-yu organized a team of volunteer lawyers to provide legal help for the victims. Chuang Chueh-an, Taiwan Confederation of Trade Unions president, declared that they will transfer NT$100,000 to the special account for disaster-relief donations of New Taipei City Government's Social Welfare Department. Focus Taiwan also reported that more than 100 people trooped to the Banquiao blood donation station following word on the possible shortage of blood supply for the burn victims.
