(Photo : reuters.com) After the Samsung Galaxy A3 and Galaxy A5 release, the South Korean tech giant also released the selfi handset, Grand Max.

Leaked photos claiming to show the latest Samsung Galaxy smartphone have appeared on Chinese social media website, Weibo.

The photos depict the grooved metal design of new smartphone called Samsung Galaxy Alpha. The grooved metal design is an Apple iPhone trademark on its 5th generation phones.

The leaked photos, however, are unverified. The South Korean electronics company has not released an official statement regarding the Samsung Galaxy Alpha.

This is the first time Samsung has created such a design. The metallic exterior of the latest Samsung Galaxy marks a departure from previous Galaxy models.

The new model features a plastic backside textured to give a feel of leather or metal.

It also has a chamfered edge, which is new to a Samsung smartphone.

SamMobile, a website dedicated to true Samsung fans, also released photos two weeks ago that shows an early Samsung Galaxy Alpha prototype. The prototype showed only a black version while the leaked photos showed a white body.

It goes to show that Samsung might offer both colors for Samsung Galaxy Alpha.

Samsung Galaxy Alpha runs an Android 4.4 KitKat and the file storage starts at 32 GB.

The leaked photos from Weibo suggest it will come in both 4.7-inch and 6.7-inch sizes. It also has a fingerprint scanner and a 12 megapixel camera.

MobileFun, a British e-commerce retailer, is now open for pre-orders of Samsung Galaxy Alpha that costs US$939 without a SIM card.
