South Korean electronics giant Samsung sent out invitations for "Unpacked" scheduled for Sept. 3 in New York, Beijing and Berlin during which it plans to show off its latest devices.

Samsung has a habit of holding two "Unpacked" events each year, according to CNET. One is scheduled early in the year, usually to reveal the newest Galaxy S smart device, while the other in the fall is for the company's latest Note device.

The tech giant revealed the Galaxy Note 3 phablet, or phone-tablet hybrid, at the Internationale Funkausstellung Berlin in 2013 and the Galaxy S5 at the Mobile World Congress in February. The reveals gives Samsung the opportunity to publicize its newest software and hardware features.

The newest "Unpacked" comes in the wake of Samsung's financial problems. It is reeling from a 25 percent drop in operating profit during the third quarter.

Mobile phone manufacturers such as Xiaomi that make cheap handsets are competing with Samsung around the world. At the samed time, fewer consumers are willing to purchase expensive, high-end devices.

Sales of tables have also fluctuated as buyers wait for a longer time before purchasing newer devices or switching to smartphones with larger screens instead of the smaller tablets.

Samsung is aiming to improve its finances by attracting consumers to its new gadgets.

Samsung is increasing the choices in its repertoire with the scheduled release of two new high-end smartphones by the end of the year, according to The Verge.

One smartphone will be "a very attractive new model that uses new materials and new displays," said Hyun-Joon Kim, senior vice president of the company's mobile communications business.

He said the other device will be a "very innovative new product in the large-screen space."

Hyun did not disclose more details about the devices but some speculate the new model could be the company's much-anticipated metal smartphone, according to CNET.

The big-screen device is thought  to be the Galaxy Note 4 since Samsung usually introduces its phablets in the fall.
