Brazilian forward Robinho is set to reunite with former national team mentor Luiz Felipe Scolari by signing a six-month deal with reigning four-time Chinese Super League champions Guangzhou Evergrande, according to The Guardian.

The contract is a free transfer while being on loan with Brazilian club Santos FC from Italian club AC Milan. It also comes with an option for the team to extend his services after the half year period has expired.

The 5-foot-9 Brazil international played for Real Madrid and Manchester City before he moved to San Siro in 2010. He was also one of Scolari's premier players during the 66-year-old's stint as Seleção manager from 2012 to 2014.

Robinho is a decent goal scorer as he accumulated 59 goals in 205 appearances at the Serie A with the Rossoneri and on loan in Vila Belmiro.

As soon as Scolari replaced Fabio Cannavaro as the Southern China Tigers' coach last month, the Brazilian mentor slowly called up his former Canarinho wards to join him at the Tianhe Stadium.

So far, there are four Brazilian players in Evergrande's lineup aside from Robinho, including striker Elkeson and recently signed midfielders Ricardo Goulart from Campeonato Mineiro club Cruzeiro and Paulinho from Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur.

Paulinho's transfer was reported to be about $15 million, as per the Daily Mail Online. Fellow Chinese Super League team Shanghai Shenhua is said to be investing on big name internationals as well as it paid Turkish club Besektas $14.5 million for Senegal's Demba Ba.

The Tigers, who will face Japanese club Kashiwa Reysol in the quarterfinals of the 2015 AFC Champions League on August 25 and September 15, are also targeting to win their fifth straight Chinese Super League crown this season.

"I want to thank club directors for trying hard to make it possible for me to stay so everybody could be happy," said Robinho, as reported by ESPN. "I'm upset because this is like my family, but life goes on. Santos will remain big and I will try to be happy doing what I like the most, which is playing football."

Santos was the 31-year-old's team during his youth career from 1996 to 2002. He played for the squad during his maiden senior stint from 2002-2005 and had served two more periods on loan, 2010 and 2014-2015, for the Peixe.
