Singer Demi Lovato's dog Buddy is dead, and the star has been on social media over the week expressing heartbreak as well as appreciation for all her fans' support through this hard time.

"This has been the most painful week of my life but because Wilmer and I had so much love and support, I've been able to stay strong and will continue to get through this difficult time. The out pour of love and support has been unbelievable and it means the world to us," Lovato wrote on her Instagram together with a collage of happy photos with Buddy.

Buddy died last week after being allegedly attacked by a coyote, USA Today learned. However, Lovato did not give any details about her dog's cause of death, but mere described it as a "tragic accident," People reported.

In another Instagram post, she recalled another one of Buddy's stories where her puppy encouraged a homeless man who broke down talking about his life, Buddy jumped on his lap and the man broke into a big smile.

At the end of the tweet, Lovato wrote, "My little angel touched so many lives without even knowing it... Especially mine."

Meanwhile, the singer is set to appear on the September issue of Cosmopolitan Magazine. In the issue, Lovato talks about how her boyfriend Wilmer Valderrama stuck it out with her even at her lowest point.

"We started dating when I turned 18 ... Right after that, I went to rehab. People told him, 'You should probably leave. She's on a spiral, and you're going to be sucked down with it.' But he was like, 'I'm not leaving. This is somebody I really care about,'" Lovato said in a report by Cosmopolitan.com

She also shared the type of music she hopes to create, "There are a lot of girls in pop. They have badass lyrics, but I feel like I'm the only person other than Rihanna and Nicki Minaj who isn't afraid to say [it]. There are people who can dress up and play the part, but their music doesn't say it."
