Danny Murphy, one of the more successful handicapped actors today, lost his battle to cancer at the age of 58. He passed away in his home in Florida.

Murphy, a longtime friend of director Peter Farrelly, was best known for his comedic roles in "There's Something About Mary" and "Kingpin".

Farrelly, who said that Murphy is the bravest man he's ever known, shared "Every time he was on the set he was just a ball. Every crew member felt the joy of being around Danny, and so did the actors."

At the age of 19, Murphy had a diving accident in Martha's Vineyard. The unfortunate incident left him quadriplegic.

Coincidentally, Murphy passed away on the 40th anniversary of the accident that left him handicapped.

Farrelly shared that Murphy was diagnosed with cancer in January this year, but because he was quadriplegic, he felt no pain at all.

The stigma of Murphy's condition didn't deter him from living his life to the fullest.

Just when other actors found that their careers started taking a nosedive as they aged, Murphy only began his acting career at 40 years old.

Murphy's acting career began when the Farrelly Brothers asked him to star in their comedy flick "Kingpin". After the said movie, Murphy has appeared in every film done by the Farrelly Brothers. His most recent one was the 2011 comedy, "Hall Pass".

Despite his long film resume, Murphy still considered his first movie, "Kingpin", to be his favorite. Murphy was said to have really bonded with the movie's star, Bill Murray.

Murphy truly made a mark both onscreen and off. He was an advocate for disabled actors in Hollywood, as was as the National Vice Chair of the Screen Actors Guild Performers with Disabilities Committee.

He also co-founded a theater company for disabled performers called Blue Zone Productions.
