The original "Pretty Woman" certainly thought highly of herself.

"August: Osage County" actress Julia Roberts used to think that she was prettier than Halle Berry. At least in the past she did.

Roberts shared in the September issue of InStyle magazine that she used to feel that she had to compete with other actresses. She felt like she always had to be number one. So it was a "godsend", according to the 46-year old star, that she never won titles or awards for her looks because the lack of those kept her feet on the ground.

The Academy Award winner said that she's a little bit more boyish in appearance than other leading ladies, but when she was younger, she always thought she was better looking than other actresses.

That is, until she realized that she wasn't being chosen for honors such as "one of the top-five hottest actresses in a bikini".

"Oh, I'm the prettiest one," Roberts used to think, "It's not Halle Berry. It's not!' But it is, you know?''

Roberts, has of course, mellowed down over the years. Her competitiveness faded as she settled into domestic life with her husband cameraman Danny Moder and children, nine-year old twins, Hazel and Phinneaus, and seven-year old Henry.

The actress believes that Hollywood is tough, but motherhood is also a struggle.

People always ask the actress how she balances a successful career and a happy home life. She shared that the three reasons she can are because she's not as busy as people think she is, she doesn't get everything done and, she has a supportive group of friends and a wonderful family.

"The rest gets done with grit, spit and a whole lot of duct tape," she added.

Roberts was previously married to country singer, Lyle Lovett. The two divorced in 1995.
