Cara Delevingne brings light to one of her biggest struggles. The model turned actress said that psoriasis has made her "hate herself and her body."

During an honest interview with The Times UK, the 22-year-old British model admitted that the stress brought about by modelling has left her with psoriasis which left her feeling hollow and hating her body. During the peak of her career in modelling, Cara was in as many catwalks in Fashion Week. The work schedule and the stress that came with it had her feeling trapped and in a cycle of depression.

"It wasn't a good time, I was, like, fight and flight for months. Just constantly on edge. It is a mental thing as well because if you hate yourself and your body and the way you look, it just gets worse and worse," Cara said.

According to Daily Mail, the hectic lifestyle brought about stress that that developed her painful skin condition, psoriasis. This condition had to be covered up in makeup before she gets a go signal to walk the runway.

"People would put on gloves and not want to touch me because they thought it was, like, leprosy or something," Cara revealed.

Looking back at some of her earlier shoots like that of Burberry 2011 campaign, the model said that she feels a sense of disgust at the poses that she was directed to take and the overall sexual nature of the images. Delevingne who identified herself as a feminist said the industry exposes young girls in an environment where they would feel like they can't refuse if they were asked to pose nude.

"It's horrible and it's disgusting. [We're talking about] young girls. You start when you are really young and you do, you get subjected to ...not great stuff," the model said.

The "Paper Towns" actress then explained that modelling was not bringing her joy anymore, Cosmopolitan UK reported. She said that she is not doing fashion work anymore and maybe now shifting to film. She admitted before that modelling did serve as a stepping stone to be able to get to film and music, which are what she originally aspired for.

"It didn't make me grow at all as a human being," Cara commented about the modelling industry.
