Sony will be releasing a new update for its Xperia devices to fix the Stagefright glitches and also for the device enhancements.

The build number for this upgrade, which will be available for Xperia Z3 (the D6603 variant), Z3 Compact (the D5803 variant), and also the Z2 (the D6503 variant), is 23.4.A.0.580, The Neuro Gadget reported. The release will take place in Austria and later in Spain and U.K. for the Vodafone subbies, The International Business Times confirmed.

Users can check for the upgrade in the following way:

Go to the Settings option, click on the About Phone option and then go to the Software updates. After that, click on "Check for System updates." If the device is up for the upgrade, the phone will prompt the user to download the file. If it's not, the user will need to wait for his/her turn for the upgrade.

The upgrade is sized at only 2.6 MB, but it will come along with another major update, which will include the 35 libstagefright libraries. These will be needed to fix the Stagefright glitches, which are known to be plaguing the Sony Xperia devices since a long time now. This fix will also work on those Xperia Z devices which are currently running on Android Lollipop 5.1.1.

Sony recently revealed that this patch fixes came from Google, and they aim to target the Stagefright glitches and fix them once and for all. This patch also contains the basic software maintenance upgrades.

Stagefright is a useful play back service which showcases the multi media messages to the users. The glitch permitted hackers to access these media rights.
