The 5 feet 11, 204 pound Holyfield, who hails from Atlanta and is the son of former heavyweight boxing champ Evander Holyfield, rushed for 1,735 yards and scored 28 touchdowns for Woodward Academy last season.

Holyfield is a 4-star prospect and is the No. 5 running back  in the class of 2016, according to Bleacher Report.

He ranks inside the top 175 of the 2016 class and is ranked as the No. 17 prospect in the state of Georgia.

Georgia now has commitments from six of the top 20 prospects in the state, with a number of prospects still on the board.

Holyfield had Big Ten programs, including Michigan, Michigan State and Wisconsin, and ACC programs vying more strongly for his services.

It wasn't a shoo-in for Georgia as Holyfied made multiple trips to Alabama and Auburn during  recruitment, AL.com reported.

Alabama and Auburn each school have a commitment from a running back committed-- B.J. Emmons to Alabama and Malik Miller to Auburn. Both schools are also pursuing four-star back Devin White.

Meanwhile, Georgia gave  Holyfield a verbal offer in September 2014, but it wasn't until 2015 that they made recruting him as a priority.

Both head coach Mark Richt and assistant coach Thomas Brown have been pretty adamant about about prioritizing Holyfield.

Holyfield's combination of vision and power allowed him to attack gaps at the line of scrimmage. While he lacked straight-line speed, he compensates with agility and quick cuts.

Sophomores Nick Chubb and Sony Michel are ahead of Holyfield on the depth chart.
