Taylor Swift Stars in "The Giver": Singer Speaks Up On How The Story Changed Her Outlook in Life

While Taylor Swift has made herself known with more than a few chart-topping hits, the 24-year-old singer's knack for reading has gone quite unnoticed.

Starring in the new film "The Giver" alongside Meryl Streep and Jeff Bridges, the blonde singer claimed that she has already read such book by Lois Lowry in 1994 before its film adaptation.

Last Tuesday at the news conference for their upcoming movie, Swift said that the story has made such a huge impact on how she sees life.

"It celebrates all the things I hold really dear and are important to me," the singer said, while adding, "like our history, our music, our art, our intellect and our memories."

"The Giver" shows a community of Sameness wherein people do not remember anything from the past, thus no memories to help save them from grief and other painful feelings. Love and happiness are not experienced as well. Jonas, a bold and brave boy, wants to change all these.

"I'm seeing so many fans write to me on Instagram and Twitter, or in letters, saying they're having such a tough time with life," Swift mentioned, "because they can't imagine that we can experience such great pain, such intense loss, such insecurity."

The Grammy award winner had also drawn attention as to how much she wanted to tell each of her fans about how important it is to treasure even short moments of happiness.

Her take on overcoming loss and staying happy? While sadness is inevitable, every glimpse of happiness should be cherished.

Swift plays the character of Rosemary, who had been a Receiver of Memory but passed away. She was replaced by Jonas (Brenton Thwaites) who waits for The Giver (Jeff Bridges) to pass along Rosemary's memory of music, which is forbidden in their dystopian world.

Directed by Phillip Noyce, "The Giver" has been set to hit cinemas on Friday.
