Xbox One Features Live TV Streaming App

(Photo : Reuters) Microsoft's Xbox One is set to enter China's gaming market this year.

Xbox One owners will now experience live TV streaming while playing games on their TVs.

A new Xbox One feature called "SmartGlass" will roll out in the coming months and will be available on all platforms.

Users can stream their TV across their home network to their tablets and smartphones.

The SmartGlass app will first be available in Europe because that's where Microsoft tested Xbox One's digital TV Tuner.

It will be out in October but the expansion will take months.

When Microsoft updates the app with streaming support, users will be able to select channels via tablet and stream the videos without any interruption of play on the Xbox console.

Xbox owners will have DVR-like functionality that enables them to pause and rewind just like live TV. It won't affect any gameplay. Changing channels is also possible

Microsoft didn't comment about the kind of streaming quality users can experience but said this will depend heavily on the network available at home.

SmartGlass is available on iOS, Android, Windows.

Users need not worry because the app works on all three platforms--but only in supported region, however.

Currently, the SmartGlass app is being used to control the Xbox from across the room, access the web resources on the TV and add up in-game content as a second-screen experience.

It goes to show that Microsoft is serious on working out its Xbox One multimedia play by adding live TV to the console.
