Google has updated their Maps app to version 4.11.0 to make it compatible with the Apple Watch on Sep. 29, Tuesday.

This will assure that the users and owners of Apple Watch will not be lost. According to Mashable, Google Maps wrist version is very simple. Upon opening the app, home and work are the choices. Applying extra pressure is needed to force touch the screen. Travel Mode button is tapped. Switching options are also available such as driving, walking, and transit directions or recent destinations entered in Google Maps.

Unfortunately, a full map cannot be displayed. This can be done with Apple Maps on the watch or using own phone to enter a destination on the watch itself.

There is a difference between the users of Google Maps and Apple Maps. The default app in iOS is Google Maps before Apple replaced it with iOS 6 in 2012 which had a disastrous launch making its features not compatible to Google Maps. The creation of a parody Twitter account @iOS6Maps led this.

Apple has worked for years on its maps game. The update on iOS 9 had a makeover on accurate transit directions and schedules. Its iOS app has used 3.5 times more than Google Maps as Apple has announced in the Worldwide Developers Conference in June. But preinstalling Apple Maps should be done on iOS devices. Apple Maps is no match for Google Maps as stated by the users. Its Taptic Engine is used to give users a light tap on the wrist to tell them whether to turn left or right.

Meanwhile, Google Maps update has comparison on estimated time of arrival for driving, biking, and walking to a destination, and it also fixes a few unspecified bugs. It has also the ability to call businesses and get directions from a list of places. It requires users to scroll through the list of turn-by-turn directions as reported by Cnet.

The app now is downloadable for free and can be updated via the App Store.
