(Photo : REUTERS/ALESSANDRO GAROFALO) Justin Bieber's new album may not have pop acclaim, but it takes listeners on a journey into the life and state-of-mind of the Canadian singer.

Justin Bieber's new album Purpose has been described by some as a manifestation of Bieber's coming of age - as though he is ready to repent.

According to Digital Spy, with Purpose "Justin treads the line between the 'woe-is-me' reformed pantomime villain and unabashed pop superstar like a pro, and creates his best record yet in the process."

Purpose has thirteen tracks: Mark My Words, I'll Show You, What Do You Mean?, Sorry,  Love Yourself, Company, No Pressure, No Sense, The Feeling, Life Is Worth Living, Where Are U Now, Children, and Purpose.

The opening track, Mark My Words, is seemingly directed to gossip mongers and his ex-girlfriend Selena Gomez.

The Guardian also noted that the track Purpose seems to be Bieber's way of addressing his behavior.

In the last two minutes of Purpose, Bieber said along with piano accompaniment: "We weren't put in the best position to make the best decisions."

In his song Children, Bieber sang his heart out, "What about the children? Look at all the children we can change."

A review by New York Times describes Children as "an ecstatic dance beat full of jagged synthesizers. Bieber looks out at the world's grand problems and wonders what he can do, as Michael Jackson might have, or a typical third grader might."

The New York Times added that Bieber's Purpose album is not a contribution to pop music.

"This album exists less as a contribution to popular music than as a plot point in Mr. Bieber's public narrative. He has gone astray," it said.
