Social networking giant Facebook is launching a new feature that will allow users to donate money to non-profit organizations. Facebook announced the new feature on Wednesday and the company is currently testing it before it finally rolls it out to its massive user base.

Facebook posed the announcement on its official News Room and it reads, "Today we're testing fundraisers - a new tool - and improving our Donate button, to allow people to donate to charities without leaving Facebook. We hope these features help nonprofits reach new supporters, engage their community and get the valuable funding they need to continue their good work."

The Menlo Park-based tech giant started testing ways to raise funds for nonprofit organizations through its platform in 2013. The company has worked with several organizations to set up donation campaigns to help survivors of natural disasters.

In order to improve its humanitarian missions, Facebook will now incorporate a Donate button for Pages and posts. By adding the Donate button on a nonprofit organizations' Page, there is an ever-present place where people can drop by and donate.

By integrating the Donate button on a post, people will have an easy way to donate directly from their News Feed.

Three charities helped launch the new Facebook fundraiser tool; Mercy Corps, World Wildlife Fund and National MS Society. Facebook said that it is partnering with 37 organizations to further promote the tool.

This new Facebook fundraiser feature is currently available in the United States only. However, there are rumors claiming that Facebook is planning to launch the feature internationally in 2016.

Since the feature is currently in its beta phase, Facebook is not charging its partners for using the tool. A source familiar with the matter told The Verge that the company plans to introduce fees in the future.
