Sprint Offers 50% Discount Off Switching Customers’ Plan; T-Mobile Responds by Giving $200 Bill Credit

(Photo : Reuters) Sprint has started releasing the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for Samsung Galaxy Note 5 devices.

It was an interesting week for the mobile network market. Sprint launched a promotion that offers 50 percent off for customers on rival networks if they switch to its network. T-Mobile, not to be left behind, responded in the nicest way possible by offering $200 bill credit should Sprint customers switch to the Uncarrier network.

On top of its new promo announcement, Sprint said that the company is planning to raise more than $1.1 billion in cash from a financing deal which it expects to be closed within the first week of December. According to Nasdaq, as a result of the deal, Sprint will have to lower its annual forecast for EBITDA (earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization).

Despite Sprint's effort to entice consumers to switch to its network, many analysts say T-Mobile was able to counter Sprint's newest promotion.

As a response to Sprint's new promo, T-Mobile announced that it is giving a hefty $200 bill credit should Sprint customers decide to switch over. The $200 credit will be added of the initial $650 credit that T-Mobile offers to any customer who switches to its network in order to cover any early termination fee. The best part of T-Mobile's deal is that it allow customers to keep their devices when they terminate their service with Sprint.

In an almost taunting statement, T-Mobile CEO John Legere said, "I cannot think of any wireless customers in more desperate need of some holiday cheer than those Sprint customers still hanging on over there. Those poor people have put up with the nation's slowest and smallest LTE network."

Many experts said that T-Mobile Uncarrier campaign has been very successful since it was launched two years ago. Through its excellent marketing strategy, T-Mobile has been able to snatch the title from Sprint as the third largest network in the United States, according to Phone Arena.
