Uzo Aduba of 'Orange is the New Black' Wins Creative Awards Emmy

Uzo Aduba, the actress who plays Suzanne "Crazy Eyes" Warren on "Orange is the New Black", won the Creative Emmy for Best Guest Actress in a Comedy Series.

She received her Emmy from presenter Morgan Freeman last Saturday at the Creative Arts Emmy ceremony. The momentous event will be aired on NBC this August 25 during the live broadcast of the Emmy Awards.

This is the first acing award the actress has received.

In her acceptance speech, Aduba thanked her Nigerian mother for where she is today, saying that she had struggled "to make a better life for her family".

Aside from thanking her mother, Aduba also expressed her appreciation for the producers and cast member of "Orange is the New Black". She said that the show's management allows all the characters to "be represented in such a beautiful way".

The 33-year old actress couldn't help but cry when receiving the award and, continued to try to hold back teasrs as she talked with reporters after the ceremony. "I'm stuffed. My cup runneth over right now. Mission accomplished, thank you," she said to them.

Aduba also shared her high regard for show creator Jenji Kohan saying that Kohan has a need to tell the truth in her writing and, that's the reason why the show is so successful. She shared that Kohan isn't only about art, but has also concerned herself with making the studio a second home for the show's team, even referring to her as their "mama bear".

Aside from Aduba's award, "Orange is the New Black" also won two more Emmy awards for casting and picture editing.

Other comedy awardees include Jimmy Fallon for Best Guest Comedy Actor for Saturday Night Live.

When it comes to drama, Joe Morton won Best Guest Actor for "Scandal", while Allison Janney won Best Guest Actress for "Masters of Sex".

Aside from Janney's Creative Emmy award, the actress is also nominated for another Emmy for her role in the CBS comedy, "Mom".
