Recent NBA trade rumors have emerged that the Houston Rockets are on the verge of trading "prized offseason addition" Ty Lawson as the team is reportedly in the process of fixing chemistry issues that are hampering their campaign this season.

Fansided reported that Houston is currently "trying to trade" Lawson as the 5-foot-11 point guard had not met expectations of him when the team acquired him via a trade last July from the Denver Nuggets.

The report said that the Rockets "thought they were getting the final piece to pull them closer to an NBA Championship" when they snagged Lawson from Denver, but "instead, the team has been an unmitigated disaster and look primed for being on the version of implosion if things continue to fall apart in Houston".

Houston is now at the tenth spot in the Western Conference, a half-game behind eight-seeded Minnesota Timberwolves and out of the playoffs if the postseason started today.

Lawson had been a disappointment in 18 games so far for the Rockets, with averages of 7.5 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 4.5 assists in almost 30 minutes a night, noticeably less than what he used to produce with the Nuggets.

By comparison, Lawson averaged 15.2 points, 3.1 boards, and 9.6 assists playing 35 minutes per game in 75 games last season for Denver.

Dave Leonardis of Today's Fastbreak indicated three teams "that should be interested" in trading for the former NCAA champion and one of them is the Brooklyn Nets.

The Nets is said to be the most unfortunate team this season as they are nowhere near competitive and almost at the bottom of the Eastern Conference with a 5-13 record. Add to that the fact that tanking is not an option because their 2016 first-rounder already belongs to the Boston Celtics.

This means that making a trade is the only way Brooklyn can improve its roster in the foreseeable future.

However, Leonardis noted that the Nets does not have enough assets to pull off a Lawson deal and they "would be foolish" to part ways with an up-and-coming Thaddeus Young, who most likely is the player the Rockets will ask for.

The two other teams rumored to be Lawson's possible destinations are the Utah Jazz and Chicago Bulls.
