The Los Angeles Lakers are a team set to explode after kicking off to an embarrassing 3-21 record in their first 24 games this season. Foremost of the team's potential trade pieces is sweet-shooting small forward Nick Young, who recently had been proposed to be moved to the Atlanta Hawks.

Shockingly, Young is one of only a few bright spots in the Lakers' current dismal year, which makes him a high-valued trade bait and the team's leading trade candidate, as per SB Nation.

While Young remains to be one of the best catch-and-shoot scorers in the league, it is evident that the nine-year veteran had already lost his place in the Lakers' rotation this year.

After 2015 NBA Sixth Man of the Year awardee Lou Williams was acquired in the offseason, the message was clear that the team is ready to move on from the man they call "Swaggy P".

With Young and Williams basically playing the same roles and positions, only one of them is expected to acquire Scott's favor, and that one had been Williams.

Fansided's Eric Yee suggested a trade with the Hawks would benefit both squads and the player himself.

Atlanta is said to be currently struggling with their bench scoring and Young would instantly solve that problem for head coach Mike Budenholzer.

After DeMarre Carroll left for Toronto in the summer, the only spot "in constant flux" within Budenholzer's starting unit is the small forward position with Kent Bazemore and Thabo Sefolosha alternating as starter and substitute.

Getting Young would fix that confusing rotation as Yee noted that "in considerably less minutes" the 30-year-old puts up "similar numbers to the Hawks interchangeable starting small forwards".

"Per 36 minutes, Nick Young is averaging nearly 18 points per game, compared to 15 and 11 for Bazemore and Sefolosha respectively," Yee said.

As the trade restriction for newly-signed free agents expires on Tuesday, expect Young's name to be heard as one of the loudest and the Hawks could be one of the teams pursuing the small forward.
