Gene Simmons Apologizes for Depression Comments

Former KISS member Gene Simmons apologizes after his careless comments on a recent interview, implying that people who suffer from depression should commit suicide.

The rock star was said to have lost his temper when he was asked about how he got along with his former KISS band mates lead guitarist Ace Frehley and drummer Peter Criss during a chat with SongFacts.com.

The 64-year old singer-songwriter and entrepreneur allegedly stated that he doesn't get along with anybody who is a drug addict and made some indirect claims that the two former members of the band saw themselves as the victims subsequent to their past actions.

Gene Simmons said, "For a putz 20-year-old kid to say, 'I'm depressed. I live in Seattle'. [Expletive] you, then kill yourself.'"

The comments made by the former KISS lead singer have sparked controversies and has also caused criticism from individuals such as Nikki Sixx who is from Motley Crue. It has also led to the banning of KISS songs from a top radio network in Australia.

In response to the negative reaction of the public to his statements on his interview, Gene Simmons has released a statement on Facebook in order to explain his words during the event and has also sent an apology through Rolling Stone.

"To the extent my comments reported by the media speak of depression, I was wrong and in the spur of the moment made remarks that in hindsight were made without regard for those who truly suffer the struggles of depression," Gene Simmons wrote on his apology.

The 1970s rock star turned reality star has apologized to the people he has offended by making such reckless comments. He has also stated that he recognizes depression as a serious and very sad issue that happens to people. He has also claimed that he is supporting of people who are suffering from any disease especially depression.
