The footballer now awaits the agreement and formalities between the two clubs to process and complete the transfer.

"I apologize to the (Corinthians) fans for not being able to finish my work here," the Brazilian player said."This is a unique chance in my career. I never thought I'd receive a proposal like this. I am probably suffering just as much as the fans because I saw that the hard work could bear even greater fruits."

Chinese outfits have been active in enticing South American players to move and to continue their football career in China.

Augusto will be the latest addition to a growing list of Brazilian shifting in Chinese Leagues.

Midfielder Jadson moved to China last December when Corinthians accepted a $5.4 million offer from second-tier club Tianjin Songjiang. The ballclub also secured Luis Fabiano from Sao Paulo in the same month.

Sao Paulo's midfielder Elias has been offered a reported $10 million contract by Hebei China Fortune. Chinese outfits are also showing interest in Vagner Love.

In a recent development, reports indicate that Corinthians accepted a proposal to send Pato to the Chinese 2nd tier side notwithstanding speculations linking the former AC Milan striker with a move back to Europe.

Due to higher salaries and the improved standard of the Chinese Super League, China has been an increasingly alluring destination for Brazilian players and coaches.

There are six Brazilians in Guangzhou Evergrande squad that won the past five league titles. Among them are former national team players Paulinho, Robinho and Ricardo Goulart.

The club is under the watch of Luiz Felipe Scolari, Brazil's 2002 World Cup winning manager.
