According to ESPN, the Pole won all three break points in the first set. In the second set, the players traded two breaks before Radwanska broke in the final game to take the victory.

Radwanska was a big winner at the end of 2015 after she triumphed at the WTA Finals in Singapore in November. She began her 2016 campaign in a positive fashion with a victory in the tournament's opening round match over the Serbian Aleksandra Krunic on Tuesday.

"I feel like I played my last match in Singapore a week ago," Radwanska stated."It's always tough to come back to the match rhythm, but actually I was feeling really good and didn't have any problems," she added.

According to the International Tennis Federation, Radwanska, 26, reached her career high singles ranking of world No. 2 on July 9, 2012. She started tennis at the early age of 5 and plays right handed (double handed backhand). The pole is coached by Robert Radwanski.

In the other matches, tournament's third seed and current world's No. 31 Irina-Camelia Begu of Romania was not able to finish the match and retired while trailing against the WTA No. 95 German Anna-Lena Friedsam, 7-5, 3-2.

In other upsets, fourth-seeded and WTA No. 39 Monica Niculescu of Romania lost 6-1, 6-4 to No. 70 Timea Babos of Hungary and seventh-seeded and WTA No. 52 Zarina Diyas of Kazakhstan lost 6-0, 6-4 to Czech player Katerina Siniakova who currently ranked as the 102nd in the world.
