Fire broke out at Foxconn's main iPhone manufacturing plant in China on Sunday, Jan. 24. Although the blaze spanned several floors of the factory, no injuries were reported and production was not affected.

The plant that caught fire is reported to be Foxconn's Technology Group's main iPhone manufacturing compound in Zhengzhou. According to a statement on the website of Zhengzhou Airport Economy Zone, the fire started in the central air conditioning fan and ventilation ducts on the roof of one of the warehouses. Taiwan-based Foxconn said that nobody was hurt and manufacturing was not disrupted by the incident.

Local authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire.

In 2011, there were explosions at a Foxconn iPad 2 factory. The dust explosion occurred in a factory in the Chinese city of Chengdu. The explosion resulted in three people being killed and 15 injured. The incident caused a major disruption in iPad production.

Foxconn recently announced that it is building a technology tourism factory that will allow people to see how their plants manufacture the millions of devices that Apple sells. This is after a New York Times' Pulitzer award-winning investigation into the working condition in Foxconn's factories.

New York times described Apple's working conditions as harsh in 2012. This is based on the testimonies of employees inside the plant, worker advocates and documents published by the company. Employees are said to work excessive overtimes in hazardous environments. A lot of employees are reported to have been injured by poisonous chemicals.

This is not the first incident in an Apple manufacturing plant this year. Earlier in the month, Apple's Irish-owned iMac factory was evacuated after a bomb scare.

Pictures and videos of the fire on Sunday have been circulating on social media.
